Bring a cool story to your walls with a painting that highlights the beauty of cultivating spaces for others to belong.
Inspired by a tiger that playfully paced the glass with my kids at the zoo and my own reflections on belonging, I created a painting featuring three things that I normally wouldn't see together: a tiger, wildflowers, and a quilt. Together, these three objects symbolize the beauty that can come from extending kindness, friendship, community, a listening ear, etc to help one belong. If we cultivate safe spaces for belonging, who knows what could bloom?
The blooms in the background represent the beauty that can come from us (the viewer) and others (people we interact with/people who are different than us) finding a sense of belonging. The tiger can be intimidating or unfamiliar, but taking the time to learn about what or who we don't know is amazing. The quilt represents safety and comfort that ultimately results from watching one bloom in places where they're accepted.
