Have you ever looked at something and felt an overwhelming sense of unfamiliarity? Maybe you wanted to flee because it felt intimidating. Sometimes, things don't always make sense though. Sometimes the unknown is comforting. This picture was taken during a boat ride that I was quite honestly terrified to take, and then I loved it. The unknown still felt scary, but it was also comforting. Part of what brought up these feelings was the COLD weather, and being told the water in the fjords was over 400ft deep. I had never seen water that dark before, and the fear of falling in really got to me. It was cool to relive some of those feelings while painting this and paralleling it with other unknowns in my life. Sometimes more trivial experiences like this can bring about gratitude when looking back at harder unknowns.

Have you ever sought out a place to experience the culture and beauty while fulfilling some element of curiosity within... only to be met with more surprise than you could've imagined? Have you ever experienced those moments of awe and wanted to remember that little fragment of time forever? Chasing Wonder is a collection composed of precious slivers of time when feelings of ambition ran high, but reality had a way of catching me by surprise in the most endearing ways. Even freezing atop mountains in the pouring rain, there is something to be appreciated about this lovely world. As an artist, I want to capture those beautiful places and share them with you.
